Tucked away at the top of an end-of-terrace house in Merton, this impressive conversion offers a remarkable aesthetic. We worked closely with Toni and Siobhan to make the most of their property by creating an extra bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.

The Project

Eager to increase living space in their house in Merton, and encouraged by the upshot of a loft conversion adding value to their property, Toni and Siobhan decided to convert their attic. As featured in Style At Home and Build It, they desired a new bedroom which would serve as a master bedroom, with an en-suite bathroom. As well as increasing space, a key aspect for them was creating a loft that would be sympathetic to the design and exterior of their property: a new space that would complement the existing building.

Our Approach

The formula for a successful loft conversion involved working closely with Toni and Siobhan to create a design which accommodated their needs, keeping them informed throughout the development of the project. In line with their vision, the flank walls were raised up in brickwork to maintain a uniform appearance with the other properties on their street. Whilst carrying out the work, the neighbouring owner contacted us, as they also wished to have a loft conversion. We were able to co-ordinate the two projects so as to minimise disruption.

Pleased with Landmark Lofts' efficiency, Siobhan says:

"All work was organised and run by Landmark, so nothing had to be sorted out by us! The project manager was very willing to help whenever needed and keen to be aware of what exactly was happening; he was very good at communicating between us as a client and the builders."

The Result

Taking the property's aesthetics into account, the loft conversion saw the addition of two beautifully designed spaces, including an extensive bedroom with a balcony, and a complementary bathroom.

As a result of extending their loft, Toni and Siobhan are happy to have gained ample space, using the new room as their master bedroom. The stunning bedroom works well as a serene and comfortable retreat at the top of their Merton home.

The room also boasts two large Velux windows which flood the room with light, and are undressed to create a modern, pristine visual. French doors with side panel windows open up into the balcony, inviting you to experience the lovely view.

With built-in storage under the eaves to maximise floor space in this master bedroom, a cupboard fits beautifully in the alcove. The loft also houses an attractive bathroom that's modern and airy!
